ABOUT THE AWARDS

20 September 2019
12:30 - 17:00
Banking Hall, 14 Cornhill, London, EC3V 3ND

The Insurance Insider is hosting its annual Cyber Rankings Awards on 20 September 2019 – an event to recognise the London cyber market’s achievements and celebrate its rising stars and most skilled individuals as well as those service providers that enable underwriters and brokers to do what they do best.

As in previous years, these awards are unlike traditional awards ceremonies where a panel of judges pick who they believe to be the winner of a category.

Our award winners are derived from aggregated data gathered through a new edition of The Insurance Insider’s annual Cyber Rankings survey.

If you are a London market cyber underwriter or broker please click here to take part in the survey.

The results are statistically significant – minimum levels of participation are set so as to achieve a maximum error margin of 10 percent of overall scores at a 95 percent confidence level (this means the sample size is sufficiently large to ensure the ranking scores remain unchallenged if the survey were to be run repeatedly).

For the shortlists of each individual award, we will pick the top five highest ranked individuals from each company in their respective field. For the company awards, we will pick the top five firms that receive the highest score for that category.

The winner of each category is simply the individual or company with the highest score made up from their supporters’ votes.

aWARDS CATEGORIES

Rising Star Broker of the Year

Who is the best rising star broker in the London cyber market? This category is for those brokers with 0-3 years’ cyber broking experience that have impressed their market peers the most.

Rising Star Underwriter of the Year

Who can claim to be the next up-and-coming underwriter in the city? The winner of this category will be an underwriter with 0-3 years’ cyber underwriting experience.

Cyber Law Firm of the Year

There can be no innovative products without first-class legal service providers helping to bring them to market. This award recognises the importance of the legal community to the development of the Cyber offering and name the firm that has added the most value to the cyber class in 2019.

Cyber Risk Service Provider of the Year

Pre- or post-loss the market relies on technical specialists for its smooth running and continued growth. Perhaps a company has produced a valuable underwriting tool, or a novel and efficient method of identifying or remedying cyber security problems? Or maybe it is the go-to technical adjuster for extraordinarily complex major losses? It doesn’t matter – if it is providing exceptional service this is where that will be captured and honoured.

Cyber Underwriting Innovation of the Year

This category recognises an underwriting initiative or new product launched in the last two years that has broken boundaries in terms of innovation and increased the size and scope of the market.

We will be looking for initiatives that are efficiently structured, well priced and successfully executed, with the recipient being either the individual(s) or team(s) that designed the product or initiative, or those responsible for backing and spearheading the new venture.

Cyber Broking Innovation of the Year

This award intends to celebrate the role of brokers as the lifeblood of innovation in the London market. Candidates will be (re)insurance broking teams and/or their managers. We are looking for a broking innovation of the last two years that has broken boundaries in terms of its originality and succeeded in increasing the size and scope of the market by identifying and satisfying emerging customer demand.

Cyber Breach Response Team of the Year

This is a new award for 2019. We want to recognise the best team that assists a company who is facing a cyber breach. This includes anything from PR communication and notification of a cyber breach to analysis, forensics and solutions.

Most Skilled Broker of the Year

The Cyber Rankings survey requires underwriters to rate their nominations for best broker on eight measureable attributes: risk knowledge, honesty and integrity, communication, analytical skills, diligence, ownership for when things go wrong, consistency and creativity.

This award winner will be recognised for their superb combination of these key skills.

Most Skilled Underwriter of the Year

Similarly, brokers are asked to rate their nominations for best underwriter on six key skills: knowledge and experience, negotiation skills, fast response, communication, creativity and consistency in the treatment of risks and relationships.

The winner will have the perfect blend of these key underwriter attributes.

Cyber Brokerage of the Year

By simply aggregating individual scores at a company level we can provide insight into the firms and teams that are winning today in the London cyber market.

Cyber Underwriting Firm of the Year

Again, individual underwriter scores will be aggregated at a company level to find the top cyber underwriting team.

Cyber Broker of the Year

As the awards reach their climax the unveiling of the cyber broker of the year will the ultimate broking accolade. This award is for the top-ranked cyber broker as chosen by cyber underwriters.

It will be regarded as the pinnacle of achievement for any intermediary operating in the cyber class within the London Market.

Cyber Underwriter of the Year

The best cyber underwriter in London will be identified in a reliable and irrefutable fashion by our unparalleled Rankings survey process. Which London Market underwriter have the intermediaries voted in this year?

Outstanding Contributor of the Year

This is the only award where the winner is not derived from the Cyber Rankings survey.

The winner will be chosen by a panel of senior editorial staff at The Insurance Insider. The winner will be someone judged to have made an outstanding contribution to the development of the cyber sector over the last year and indeed during the course of their careers.
